Description

Sesame seeds chutney is a nutritious and flavourful condiment made with roasted sesame seeds, coconut, red chillies, and garlic. Rich in healthy fats, calcium, and protein, this chutney pairs well with rice, dosa, or roti, adding a nutty taste and a hint of spice to meals. It’s both tasty and beneficial for bone health and digestion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup sesame seeds
  • ¼ cup grated coconut (fresh or desiccated) (optional)
  • 23 dried red chillies (adjust to taste)
  • 12 garlic cloves
  • 1 small piece of tamarind (optional, for tanginess)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  • In a pan, dry roast the sesame seeds on medium heat until they turn golden brown. Set aside to cool.
  • In the same pan, lightly roast the dried red chillies.
  •  Once cool, add sesame seeds, coconut, roasted chillies, garlic, tamarind, and salt to a blender. Blend with water to your desired consistency (thick or smooth).
  •  Transfer to a bowl. You can add a tempering of mustard seeds and curry leaves in oil, if desired.
